Mafikeng Game Reserve is situated on the outskirts of Mahikeng and boasts large populations of plains game. Although there was no HO activities in this reserve this past weekend it is a favourite training ground for HO Very Important Species (VIS) monitoring. VIS is done on foot and up close to big game. Conservation is very close to the heart of every HO and learning how to monitor and correctly record the sex and age of VIS is a skill worth learning. When visiting Mafikeng Game Reserve the HOs are spoilt with great accommodation in one of the self-catering guest houses.
